Chocolate Blueberry Yogurt Clusters
Our Chocolate Blueberry Yogurt Bites are a flavor-packed treat that promises a guilt-free indulgence. The experience begins with the creamy Greek yogurt, which brings a subtly tangy and refreshing taste that perfectly complements the bursts of natural sweetness from the fresh blueberries.
These plump and juicy blueberries add a fruity twist to each bite, creating a harmonious fusion of flavors that will leave you craving more.
What sets these bites apart from traditional ice cream is the healthier nature of their ingredients. Greek yogurt provides a creamy and satisfying texture with fewer calories and less fat. Greek yogurt is also packed with protein and probiotics, promoting gut health and keeping you feeling fuller for longer.
Another key factor that makes these bites a healthier option is dark chocolate. Unlike traditional milk chocolate, dark chocolate has a higher cocoa content, making it a richer source of antioxidants and potentially offering various health benefits.
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Plain Greek Yogurt: Plain nonfat or whole. I’m using nonfat since we’re adding nut butter to this recipe. You also try experimenting with vanilla yogurt or dairy-free yogurt, whichever you prefer!
- Nut Butter: Peanut and almond butter work great in this recipe. Look for nut butter that only contains the nut and salt – nothing else!
- Blueberries: Any berries work well in this recipe! Try strawberry or raspberry.
- Chocolate Chips: I’m using Hu Dark Chocolate Gems since it has no refined sugars in it.
- Coconut oil: To temper the chocolate. Alternatively, you can use any neutral oil like avocado oil.
- Sweetener: This is an optional ingredient. I find that the chocolate already sweetens the frozen yogurt bites enough, but if you’d like it to be sweeter add a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup to the yogurt mixture.
- Sea Salt: Also optional, to sprinkle on top of the bites.
How to make Chocolate Blueberry Yogurt Clusters
1. In a mixing bowl, blend Greek yogurt and peanut butter until thoroughly combined. To make it easier to pour and stir, slightly warm the peanut butter in the microwave.
2. Once well incorporated, gently fold in fresh blueberries. Using a spoon or standard cookie scoop, portion the filling into equal-sized servings. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer until frozen solid, approximately 1 hour.
3. When the bites are frozen, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, until smooth and fully melted.
4. Dip each frozen yogurt cluster into the melted chocolate and set it back on the parchment paper. Repeat for remaining bites. Return the baking sheet to the freezer for another 15-20 minutes until the chocolate has hardened.
Storage
Freezing: Transfer the clusters into a freezer-safe container or bag, ensuring a tight seal to avoid freezer burn. These frozen clusters will stay fresh for 2-3 months. When you’re ready to savor their deliciousness, simply let them thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.
