Ingredients Needed
- salmon filets
- olive oil
- garlic powder
- paprika
- salt and pepper
- lemon wedges
I kept the seasoning in this recipe simple but there are so many ways to make this air fryer salmon complement your meal. Other great seasonings to try are black pepper, dijon mustard, or soy sauce.
One of my favorite versions is with melted butter, lemon juice, dill, and parsley served alongside air fryer asparagus.
How to cook salmon in the air fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C). If you purchased a whole filet of salmon, cut it into even portions and pat dry with a paper towel. (A typical serving size is anywhere from 4 to 6 ounces per filet.)
Rub each filet with olive oil. Season with paprika powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Arrange the salmon on the air fryer basket and set the timer for 7-10 minutes, depending on thickness.
Thinner cuts will need less time than thicker pieces. The internal temperature should be 145°F using a meat thermometer at the thickest part of the filet.
Check the desired doneness of the salmon using a fork. If necessary, return the salmon for an additional 1 or 2 minutes of cooking time.
What do you serve with air fryer salmon?
I love pairing this salmon with a fresh salad. Try it on top of the fennel and parmesan arugula salad or grilled corn and red cabbage slaw.
Tips for Success
- If you purchase skin-on salmon you can remove the skin of the salmon before cooking but it is not necessary. Once the salmon is cooked, it is easy to separate the skin from the flesh.
- I prefer to use sweet paprika, but smoked paprika works just as well!
- Use cooking spray on the air fryer basket to prevent the salmon from sticking.
How to Store:
- Fridge: Cooked salmon will last up to three days in the fridge stored in an air-tight container.
- Freezer: Place in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.
